From field to family - A Culinary Celebration of Community

2003 marks the second year of From Field to Family, an annual festival dedicated to drawing stronger connections between the Iowa City community and its farmers.  Our inaugural event in 2002 drew hundreds of people to see the local chefs and farmers with celebrities like cookbook author Deborah Madison and Splendid Table host Lynn Rossetto Kasper.

This year we are very proud to welcome two more special guests to Iowa City.

Gary Paul Nabhan is Director of the Center for Sustainable Environments at Northern Arizona University, author of Coming Home to Eat and 16 other books, and a Slow Food Convivium leader in Alta Arizona.

Kent Whealy is the founder of the famous Seed Savers Exchange in Decorah, Iowa.  He is the author and editor of several books on preserving and protecting heirloom seed varieties, and is a member of Slow Food Iowa.
